MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Sept. 14, 2017

Highlights

  • Inuitive selected the DesignWare EV6x Embedded Vision Processor for its high vector DSP and neural network performance in a minimal silicon footprint
  • Combination of dual vector DSPs operating in parallel to the CNN engine delivers maximum throughput to meet Inuitive’s real-time vision and image processing requirements
  • Synopsys’ MetaWare EV Development Toolkit simplifies software development for Inuitive’s NU4000 SoC, including the mapping of complex CNN graphs

Synopsys, Inc. (Nasdaq: SNPS) today announced that Inuitive selected Synopsys’ DesignWare® EV62 Embedded Vision Processor IP for its production NU4000 system-on-chip (SoC), Inuitive’s most advanced 3D imaging and vision SoC. Inuitive adopted the EV62 Processor IP to take advantage of the high performance and processing efficiency of the tightly integrated vector DSPs and convolutional neural network (CNN) engine. The CNN engine operates in parallel with the vector DSPs, enabling Inuitive to implement highly accurate object detection, image classification and semantic segmentation capabilities in its SoC at a fraction of the power consumption of competing vision processor IP solutions. The MetaWare EV Development Toolkit, a comprehensive set of tools and software for the EV6x Processors, can distribute the NU4000’s computations between the vision CPU and CNN resources to support new and emerging neural network algorithms as well as customer-specific CNN layers.

“To provide our customers with the most advanced, high-performance vision processing capabilities for their demanding computer vision and machine learning applications, we require vision processing IP with the best mix of performance and power consumption with the flexibility to support current and future CNN graphs,” said NAME, TITLE at Inuitive. “The competitive power, performance and area advantages of the DesignWare EV62 processor with its fast CNN engine were critical to achieving the real-time processing capabilities of our NU4000 3D imaging and vision processor SoC.”

The DesignWare EV6x Processor Family supports Inuitive’s NU4000 SoC requirements for processing multiple camera inputs with high-definition resolutions up to 4K. The EV6x processors have a heterogeneous multicore architecture that includes one to four high-performance vector DSPs designed to be tightly coupled to a CNN engine that delivers up to 4.5 TeraMACs/sec in typical 16-nm FinFET process technologies. To simplify software application development, the DesignWare EV6x Processors are fully programmable and supported by the MetaWare EV Development Toolkit, which includes software development tools based on the OpenVX™, OpenCV and Open CL™ C embedded vision standards. In addition, the Toolkit includes a CNN mapping tool that automatically converts neural networks trained using popular frameworks like Caffe and Tensorflow into an executable for the CNN engine.

“Artificial intelligence is enabling intelligent, real-time identification and recognition at high precision for applications such as ADAS, video surveillance and virtual/augmented reality,” said John Koeter, vice president of marketing for IP at Synopsys. “By using Synopsys’ EV6x Vision Processor IP, companies like Inuitive can create SoC designs that execute deep learning algorithms at TeraMAC-per-second speeds with the lowest power consumption and highest accuracy.”

Availability & Resources

The DesignWare EV61, EV62 and EV64 processors with optional CNN engine, and the MetaWare EV Development Toolkit, are available now. Support for the TensorFlow framework in the Toolkit’s CNN mapping tool is scheduled to be available in Q4 2017.

Inuitive and Visidon introduce a new, industry-changing low light enhancement technology for robotic applications and more Copy

Ra’anana, Israel, January 04, 2023 — Inuitive, a leading vision-on-chip processor company, and Visidon, an AI-based image and video enhancement software provider, announced today the release of a high performing, accurate, and real-time low light enhancement solution the two companies co-developed. The joint solution, now available for deployment, addresses the main issues in traditional noise reduction algorithms for a wide variety of edge devices, such as robotics, consumer electronic devices with cameras, and surveillance systems.

The game-changing solution combines Inuitive’s all-in-one NU4100 vision-on-chip processor which incorporates AI-powered image processing and depth sensing, with Visidon’s advanced low light enhancement technology, resulting in a significant leap in vision technology.

For robots to perform well in low light conditions, their vision processor must enhance and process low-light video quickly – a capability possible only on the Edge. Enhancement includes denoising mixed noise in the image due to low light, severe weather or environmental conditions. Visidon’s enhancement solution uses neural networks to effectively extract signals from the noise. Inuitive’s NU4100 vision-on-chip processor hosts the Visidon solution, allowing robots to utilize it for processing.

The new co-solution allows high-performance robotic applications and enhances consumer communication and surveillance quality in real time, even in the most challenging low light environments. It is a high efficiency, low power solution with impeccable accuracy applicable to critical use cases such as robot use at night and drone flights in the dark, which had only been available in the past via advanced and highly costly sensors.

Shlomo Gadot, CEO at Inuitive, commented: “We are very pleased to have partnered with Visidon, who are a great addition to our ecosystem of software partners. Through our co-developed solution with them, we now offer stellar image quality even in the most challenging light conditions, not only unlocking a huge market potential but also democratizing access to such technology.”

Markus Turtinen, Co-founder and CEO at Visidon, commented: “We are extremely pleased to be working together with Inuitive. Our partnership further expands our reach in the robotic applications market and beyond. We look forward to deepening this partnership.”

Both companies will attend CES 2023 on January 5–8 in Las Vegas. Interested parties can meet with Company representatives at Westgate Hotel, Inuitive Suite 630. To schedule a meeting, please click here.

Inuitive introduces groundbreaking new sensor modules to address challenges of AMR and AGV systems

Ra’anana, Dec 11, 2022. Inuitive, a Vision-on-Chip processor company, announced today the launch of its latest sensor modules: the M4.5S and the M4.3WN. Designed to easily integrate into robots and drones systems, both sensor modules are built around the NU4000 Vision-on-Chip (VoC) processor and integrates depth sensing and image processing with AI and VSLAM capabilities in order to provide robotic devices with human-like visual understanding.

The M4.5S provides robots with enhanced depth from stereo sensing along with AI-based obstacle detection and object recognition. It features the widest field of view in the industry at 88×58 degrees, shortest minimum-sensing-range of 9 cm, and wide dynamic operating temperature range of up to 50 degrees Celsius. The M4.5S is an easy to adopt, highly power efficient platform that is designed to function as a self-sufficient depth sensor module and shorten time to market for commercial robotic systems with industrial design fix and limitations.

The Company’s other newly launched sensor module, the M4.3WN, features accurate tracking and VSLAM navigation based on fisheye cameras and an IMU together with depth sensing and on-chip AI processing. This enables free navigation, localization, path planning, and static and dynamic obstacle avoidance – the main challenges for AMR and AGV systems. The M4.3WN is specially designed in a metal case to best serve in industrial environment conditions.

“Our new all-in-one sensor modules expand our portfolio targeting the growing market of autonomous mobile robots. Together with our category-leading Vision-on-Chip processor, we now enable robotic devices to look at the world with human-like visual understanding,” said Shlomo Gadot, CEO and Co-Founder of Inuitive. “Inuitive is fully committed to continuously developing the best performing products for our customers and becoming their supplier of choice.

The M4.5S and the M4.3WN sensor modules’ primary processing unit is the Inuitive all-in-one NU4000 processor. Both modules are equipped with depth and RGB sensors that are controlled and timed by the NU4000. Data generated by the sensors and processed in real-time at a high frame rate by the NU4000, is then used to generate depth information for the host device.
