Ra’anana, Israel 27 July 2021. Inuitive – a fabless semiconductor company that develops advanced vision processors for Edge devices – is supplying its NU4000 to Japanese multi-national corporation, Alps Alpine, for integration into its obstacle detection unit, which is being used by Fukushin Electrics in its next-generation electric cart.
Based on a unique architecture, the NU4000 is a 3D Vision and AI processor designed for use in smart devices that need to see and understand the world around them. Applications include Augmented and Virtual Reality, Robotics, Drones and Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT).
Fukushin Electrics’ POLCAR is the first and most advanced step into smart mobility systems, offering a safer and more secure electric cart experience. Built into the obstacle detection unit of the POLCAR, Inuitive’s NU4000 detects potential obstacles such as people, objects, gutters, etc. in advance. The cart then issues a sound and light alert to the driver, while automatically decelerating and stopping to prevent collision.
“Inuitive’s NU4000 combines 3D and AI, enabling Alps Alpine’s obstacle detection system to filter out irrelevant information while fulfilling its primary mission – preventing collisions,” says Kenichi Kitatani, Power and Mobility Project Manager at Alps Alpine. “Until now the sole option was to separately use a 3D-only system that requires heavy processing to generate relevant information, or an AI-only system that detects many classes of objects. While high sensitivity results good in detection, it can also cause overload with hazards that are better ignored. The NU4000 offers the best of both worlds, in one compact unit.”
“Having successfully completed a series of rigorous tests and checks to ensure compliance with the most stringent standards and regulatory requirements, our selection by Alps Alpine for this project is a strong validation of our technology,” says Shlomo Gadot, founder and CEO of Inuitive. “We look forward to this being a catalyst for many more collaborations with integrators in Northeast Asia and beyond.”
“The development of smarter user experiences depends on high-quality depth sensing, on-chip SLAM, computer vision and deep learning capabilities,” says Rich Wawrzyniak Principal Market Analyst, ASIC & SoC at Semico Research Corp. “This is what makes the work that Inuitive is doing so exciting; they are facilitating the ongoing development of smart products. Embedded vision and AI are going to be pervasive functions in our society, and Inuitive is well positioned to aid companies wanting to add these capabilities to their products going forward.”

Ra’anana, Israel, January 04, 2023 — Inuitive, a leading vision-on-chip processor company, and Visidon, an AI-based image and video enhancement software provider, announced today the release of a high performing, accurate, and real-time low light enhancement solution the two companies co-developed. The joint solution, now available for deployment, addresses the main issues in traditional noise reduction algorithms for a wide variety of edge devices, such as robotics, consumer electronic devices with cameras, and surveillance systems.
The game-changing solution combines Inuitive’s all-in-one NU4100 vision-on-chip processor which incorporates AI-powered image processing and depth sensing, with Visidon’s advanced low light enhancement technology, resulting in a significant leap in vision technology.
For robots to perform well in low light conditions, their vision processor must enhance and process low-light video quickly – a capability possible only on the Edge. Enhancement includes denoising mixed noise in the image due to low light, severe weather or environmental conditions. Visidon’s enhancement solution uses neural networks to effectively extract signals from the noise. Inuitive’s NU4100 vision-on-chip processor hosts the Visidon solution, allowing robots to utilize it for processing.
The new co-solution allows high-performance robotic applications and enhances consumer communication and surveillance quality in real time, even in the most challenging low light environments. It is a high efficiency, low power solution with impeccable accuracy applicable to critical use cases such as robot use at night and drone flights in the dark, which had only been available in the past via advanced and highly costly sensors.
Shlomo Gadot, CEO at Inuitive, commented: “We are very pleased to have partnered with Visidon, who are a great addition to our ecosystem of software partners. Through our co-developed solution with them, we now offer stellar image quality even in the most challenging light conditions, not only unlocking a huge market potential but also democratizing access to such technology.”
Markus Turtinen, Co-founder and CEO at Visidon, commented: “We are extremely pleased to be working together with Inuitive. Our partnership further expands our reach in the robotic applications market and beyond. We look forward to deepening this partnership.”
Both companies will attend CES 2023 on January 5–8 in Las Vegas. Interested parties can meet with Company representatives at Westgate Hotel, Inuitive Suite 630. To schedule a meeting, please click here.

The Company’s other newly launched sensor module, the M4.3WN, features accurate tracking and VSLAM navigation based on fisheye cameras and an IMU together with depth sensing and on-chip AI processing. This enables free navigation, localization, path planning, and static and dynamic obstacle avoidance – the main challenges for AMR and AGV systems. The M4.3WN is specially designed in a metal case to best serve in industrial environment conditions.
“Our new all-in-one sensor modules expand our portfolio targeting the growing market of autonomous mobile robots. Together with our category-leading Vision-on-Chip processor, we now enable robotic devices to look at the world with human-like visual understanding,” said Shlomo Gadot, CEO and Co-Founder of Inuitive. “Inuitive is fully committed to continuously developing the best performing products for our customers and becoming their supplier of choice.
The M4.5S and the M4.3WN sensor modules’ primary processing unit is the Inuitive all-in-one NU4000 processor. Both modules are equipped with depth and RGB sensors that are controlled and timed by the NU4000. Data generated by the sensors and processed in real-time at a high frame rate by the NU4000, is then used to generate depth information for the host device.
